I am a full time gunsmith specializing in Antique Single Shot Rifles. Having hunted with single shot rifles & also shooting single shot rifles in Black Powder Cartridge Rifle (BPCR) competition for many years I have first hand experience of what works and what doesn't. Single Shots of all types regularly come through the shop from Rugers & Brownings to Winchesters, Ballards, Hepburns, and Remington Rolling Blocks. Work performed includes barreling, restocking, restoration and upgrade or customizing. My goal is to work with you the client to give you exactly what you want in a timely manor with the highest quality of workmanship.
My background includes 35 years in the building of injection molds for the medical industry. Requiring precision in the fraction of a thousandth of an inch, and extreme attention to detail and finish. This passion for perfection has carried over into the building of fine Single Shot Rifles. A project does not leave the shop unless it is done right and has the appeal and attention to detail that I would want in a rifle for myself.
Having an extensive collection of period rifles and a library of books on single shot rifles provides me with references and examples of exactly how a classic rifle should look and function.
Being a one man shop all work is done by me with the exception of color case hardening and checkering. The shop is well equipped with modern machinery and numerous jigs and fixtures built specifically for working on single shots. The one piece of equipment not found in my shop is a power buffer. All polishing on any barrel or action is done completely by hand.
Each project is discussed with the client and evaluated for safety and appropriate strength, at which time a written quote is provided to the client before the work is begun.
